sadie Sadie

Hi Shara,
I wanted to send pictures of Sadie that were taken one month before her 2nd birthday. At my Agility school, we had a dog party and our instructor is friends with Cheryl A. Ertelt a professional animal photographer who travels the world taking photos of animals that she sells on her website for magazines, advertising, calendar companies, etc. Sadie's photos turned out beautiful and I wanted to share a couple with you. These are the proofs. You never know, she may end up in Advertising someday.

We're doing Agility and she's turned out to be a wonderful Performance dog, Shara. She loves working and training. We're taking this pretty serious and I'll start showing her next year in AKC and CPE Agility.

Hope all is going well for you and your family.

Magnum hunting in Canada

Hello Tom and Shara,

I thought I would write and let you know how happy I am with Magnum. I live in northern Canada and saw your web site while I was at our lodge this summer. As soon as I saw the picture of Magnum Steel I knew I had to have him.

We are located 150 air miles north of Yellowknife, the capital of The Northwest Territories. Just above the tree line in the barren lands of Northern Canada, we operate a mining and exploration camp from our lodge appropriately named,  “Treeline Lodge.”

Having Magnum come up here from Michigan was one of my concerns, as I didn’t know how he would handle the extreme weather that we encounter here during the winter months. When Magnum arrived from his 2 day journey from Caro, Michigan I think it took him all of 20 minutes to realize that I was not only his new owner but also his new best friend. This dog lives to please let me tell you, he truly is the epitome of loyalty. Never have I seen a dog warm up to someone like Magnum has with me.

When he first arrived, I drove us all the way to central Saskatchewan for our first hunting trip together. My cousin Boyd Warner took my brother Kevin and myself along with Magnum on a goose and duck hunt that was first class. Granted, he had a little trouble with the 11 pound Canada geese, but with ducks he was awesome.  He got to work with a 12 year old black Lab that retrieves 1000 birds a year. JD showed Magnum the ropes and with a little bit of patience he was retrieving like a veteran hunting dog that had been at it awhile.

When we returned back to Yellowknife we ventured north to the barren lands at “Treeline Lodge,” and Magnum retrieved his first Arctic Hare. He was curious at first to what exactly it was but grabbed it no problem and brought it right to me.

I believe in rewarding Magnum fully for his hard work and loyalty but most of the time all he wants is a pat on the head and a lot of "good boy".

As for the harsh environment, with his thick coat and excellent demeanor Magnum handles the cold without flinching.

We are currently in Yellowknife and are heading back up to the barren lands on January 15th. We will probably be there for a majority of the year and can't wait to share some of our adventures.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for doing such a good job with Magnum, we don't call it spoiled but he truly does have a dog’s life up here in northern Canada.

Regards,

Michael Dunn

Angus Strider of WE Pines

Dear Whispering Emerald Pines,

We acquired one of your puppies as a gift for the family from my father, Ron Ward. Angus Strider of WE Pine joined our family late October 2001. He was born August 15, 2001

I sat down several times to write you and for whatever reason never finished my letter. I thought it was high-time I shared with you what a wonderful dog Gus is and describe what he has been up to.

We live in the country on 71/2 acres with a pond and a couple of creeks in the woods so Gus has plenty of room to stretch his legs. We have two children and they dearly love him. He lets them do whatever they want to him. Our oldest Rachel, will dress him up and he prances around the house proud as can be. He sits down and rides in their wagon around the yard and pulls them on their sleds in the winter. Wherever the kids are, you will find Gus nearby.

During the summer we visit our cabin in Kalkaska and he swims in the lake. This summer he learned that if he patrols the water near the shore he can see the minnows and he can try to catch them. He would rather "fish," then he would visit with other dogs and play with the kids. It is quite comical to watch.

I couldn't ask for a dog with a better disposition or attitude. He is a wonderful family dog but yet a great watchdog. If it weren't for the shedding of the black hair on my white tile floor he would be perfect.

We spend a lot of time at the cabin and Gus always goes with us. He has also been to Mackinaw Island on the ferry, visited the U.P. and even hunted at Lake Gogebic and the Two Hearted River. You open the truck door and he is ready to go. He duck and goose hunts with my husband and they both love it.

Gus is a very healthy, happy dog. People always ask us if he is a puppy and quite shocked to hear he is full grown. The vet and my dad both say he is what a Lab is supposed to look like. He weights about 70 pounds and is short and VERY stocky with a huge head, neck and chest! The only health concerns we have had were at age 6 months when he had to have a bottom K-9 removed and most recently a skin infection on his neck and a yeast  infection in both ears (from fishing and putting his head under the water). The adult bottom K-9 came in and it did not push out the baby one so the vet simply extracted it. We are very careful about what we feed him, Pedigree dog food and fruits and vegetables. He loves bananas and asparagus!

We love our dog and want to say, "Thank You," for breeding such a wonderful animal.

Sincerely, Wendy K. Culver

"Kyla the Wonder dog!"  Bill and Lori Pacer

Shara,

As Kyla approaches her first birthday, I wanted to send our thanks to you and Tom again for providing our awesome pup. Kyla is a handsome Lady with a great personality, eager to learn, smart and healthy - a great combination. Your early crate training made our early training and housebreaking very easy. We could not be more pleased with our new family member !!!

Attached are two pictures of Kyla at 11 months. One picture is of Kyla leading the pack at our last obedience class.

Thanks again,
Bill and Lori

Hi Shara,

We received the AKC papers this past week- thanks!  Bodie is doing great and more energetic than ever, he looks a lot like his sister, Willow.  Attached are a couple of pictures of him at 6 mos.  We're taking him to the lake tomorrow for the first time and we look forward to playing with him the water.  We take him to the dog park a lot and he loves the people as much as the dogs.  He finished second in his puppy class and learns pretty easily.  We plan on taking him to agility and obedience classes too.  He's a very happy puppy and we're so glad we got him!  We get compliments everyday on his beautiful color.

Take care,
Danielle and Rick

Hi Shara,

It's been a while since you've heard from us. Sadie is doing great! She's almost 50 pounds now and the vet feels she should max out no more than 55 pounds and that's great for me! She's such a joy and the clients at the salon look forward to come and see her when they come in for their appointments. We are still in training with Brenda Aloff at "Heaven on Arf". We start a second night of classes to focus more on Agility Training. Sadie absolutely loves it. In play she enjoys the Soft Frisbee and loves going airborne to catch it rather than the ball and of course she has plenty of toys inside. She's been introduced to one of my client's ponds and loves it so much.

Enjoy!   Renee' Turner

Hi Shara-----

Well. it's July 1st and Buddy (Cutter) is 10 months old today.  He is very, very cute and he is treated like a little king, and he loves it.   He is being spoiled, and he loves it.  He is very, very smart----with a great memory-------but we are still trying to completely house-break him.  He's not there yet.  But we're still working at it.

At night he usually sleeps on the carpet in my room at the foot of my bed.  Once in a while he will switch and go downstairs into my Dad's room and sleep at the foot of my Dad's bed.

I play with him a lot in the backyard and he has many toys for chewing.  The other night he saw a deer, nearby, and just stared at it like he was trying to figure out what it was.

He obeys the invisible fence just perfectly.  A couple of weeks ago I bought him a little plastic pool, from K-Mart, for the back deck and he loves jumping in and out of it and splashing, especially on the hot days..

He leaves the ducks and geese alone in the backyard, but he'll chase a squirrel, if possible.

He is very, very energetic.  Sometimes he looks like a little deer, the way he hops, prances and jumps around.  He always wants me to chase him or play tug-of-war with him with one of his rope toys.

Buddy doesn't have a mean streak in his body.  He is full of love, joy and fun.

My Dad wants him to bark, because he never, or hardly ever, barks.  But I'm sure that will come in due time.

I will take some pictures and send them to you.

Happy 4th of July to you and your family and the dear dogs.

John

Shara,

I just wanted to inform you Recon is doing great he is growing up and out.  He is a great kid and is also working very well.  He should be a certified bomb dog within the month and will be working at the federal building with me.  He is a little tank at almost 70#'s not fat solid muscle and very very strong.  Yampa (my black shepherd) and recon get along great.  Recon loves to swim (must have something to do with the webbed feet) but Yampa still will not go in past his knees. Here are some pics of Recon at work and play.  Where is Brulee now I could not find him on your site or chocklabs?
Cheers
Dan

Hi Shara

Just wanted to drop you a note, as I haven’t sent you any Beaumont photos in a while.  He is getting huge – 75 pounds at 9 months old!  We took him to obedience training last weekend – he was a bit of a challenge – but the trainer said he has a great personality and is very smart.  The smart part is what gets him in trouble!  : )

Attached is a photo of him with the allegedly indestructible dog bed I bought him from Orvis.  It took him less than one minute to chew a hole in it.  He is such a troublemaker!  Bed has a guarantee that your dog can’t destroy it or money back – they have met their match with Beaumont.  : )  The other picture attached shows his happy personality pretty well.

Anyway, he is doing well and seems to truly enjoy having us as his people.  We have a neighbor with a 8-year-old Golden Retriever – Beaumont gets to play with him a lot and he loves it!  Just wanted to update you on his progress.

We are on a quest for the toy that he cannot destroy.  We have found a few that he truly seems to enjoy and hasn’t destroyed.  He is just a little bit spoiled with the millions of toys he has.  I love getting him new toys though, because he does what I can only call the “new toy dance.”  He tosses it around and chases it and then lays on the floor chewing it while wagging his tail really fast.  He makes me laugh out loud everyday so he is so great to have in our lives, and he is so very pretty.  The obedience trainer commented on how perfect looking he is and what an expressive, pretty face he has.  His latest trick is to grab a catalog from the wooden catalog holder I have next to the love seat in the living room.  He gets it and then plays keep away with me.  Our neighbor is laid off right now so he comes over at noon and takes Beaumont out and plays with him everyday.  I am starting to think he likes Beaumont better than his own dog!  ; )  Oh, and the vet lovingly refers to him as “the wild man!”  Thought you would like that.  : )

Hope you are well.  Talk to you soon!
